The pontoon "KonTEK" structure is a cylindrical body formed by a peripheral ring. Rows of floats fastened to each other and supports are attached to the peripheral ring. Rows of load-carrying profiles are attached to the peripheral ring and perpendicular to the floats. The upper surface of the central body is covered with the flooring made of aluminum alloy bands.
The pontoon in down position leans on the tank bottom with supports fixed in attachment points of the peripheral ring and row floats. The support length provides the bottom-flooring distance required for accommodation of equipment in the lower tank section (inlets/outlets, siphons, etc.) and its routine maintenance.
The required number of tubes for the pontoon guides (housings of measuring devices) to pass through the flooring, a hatch functioning as an air-inlet valve when discharging/loading products, and a drain valve are fixed to the flooring. The gap between the tank wall and the peripheral ring is closed with sealing.
The pontoon structure permits retaining a layer of saturated vapour above the product surface.
The pontoons "KonTEK" have been in operation at the customer facilities since 1997 and by now only positive references have been given to their maintenance.
